Eating Locally & Seasonally: Potatoes Food Demo
May 18, 2024
2:00 - 4:00pm
Culinary Room, Lopez Island High School
Free, RSVP Requested
In this fourth of the series about eating locally and seasonally, we will focus on potatoes, which are easily grown on our island.
We will discuss the nutritional properties of potatoes, especially when organically and locally grown, and how to prepare and process them. Since we are in the shoulder season, we will make a seasonal potato dish, Chunked Fried Potatoes, and discuss other flavorful potato dishes, such as various kinds of scallops, salads, dumplings, pancakes, and breads.

This event is Free of Charge, (donations welcome) and limited to sixteen adult participants.

There will be an opportunity to purchase "Eating Locally and Seasonally, A Community Food Book for Lopez Island (And All Those Who Want to Eat Well)", (2021, $25), proceeds to go to Transition Lopez Island to fund its projects toward mitigating climate change.

Assisted by Taproot, sponsored by Lopez Locavores, Lopez Island School District, the Family Resource Center, and the Lopez Thrift Store. To register, send an email with your name and contact info to:
