This Week: We continue our survey of music composed in 1929 with four more tunes reaching popularity in that pre-crash Broadway bubble year: "Mean to Me" (from February), "Just You, Just Me" and Gershwin's "LIZA" (in June) and "More than You Know" (in November), along with some great modern versions of "Honeysuckle Rose." In the middle (birthday hour at 4pm), we continue our 10-15-part survey of the careers of the tenor titans Sonny Rollins and John Coltrane (from their work in 1957) and Stan Getz in his quartets with guitarist Jimmy Raney (1952-53). We also feature some LP versions of big band classics recorded in the late 1950s by Quincy Jones and in the late 1960s by Thad Jones (ex of the Count Basie band, and then his own spinoff).
