Movie-Farha
Apr 24, 2024
We hope you will join us this Friday, April 26, in the Lopez Library Meeting Room for this powerful and insightful film of the 1948 Nakba.

Farha (2021) is about a young girl coming of age during the violent history of Al-Nakba, the Palestinian Catastrophe, that led to destruction of land, persecution and displacement of the Palestinians and the creation of Israel. The film starts at the end of Britain's Mandate for Palestine and leads up to the beginning of the first Arab-Israeli war of 1948. It tells the story across a few days in the life of Farha (Karam Taher), a 14-yr-old girl who dreams of getting out of her tiny Palestinian village and going to the city for her formal education. Confined to a pantry for her safety, Farha's perspective captures the loss, horror and shattered dreams of the Palestinians in the wake of Israeli occupation.
