SWAP (Solid Waste Alternatives Program)is looking for a Trashion-Fashion show Coordinator

The coordinator is responsible for two primary events in 2024: 1) Sept.27/28 Trashion-Fashion shows and 2) a Trash Band float for the 4th of July.

The position is offered as an independent contractor.
Pay is up to $3,000 for coordinating both events.
The primary duty is to raise awareness of zero waste while generating support for our local Dump and unleashing creativity in two separate fun-filled community-centered events.

Preferred candidates need to demonstrate an ability to organize a controlled yet chaotic environment, coordinating with SWAP, working with a volunteer committee of experienced Trashion/Fashion consultants, soliciting sponsors, working with volunteer fashion creators and other duties.

Duties include -
Review of photos and videos of past Lopez Trashion-Fashion events and 4th of July entries
Meet with committee members at least 6 times pre-event and one time post event and regularly communicate.
Document the events, including post event critique (in case we have so much fun we want to do this again!)
Adhere to the SWAP approved budget
Coordinate with LCCA. (Center is reserved September 24-30th. Two shows are planned for September 27th and 28th.
Create marketing - posters, social media, other outreach materials
Solicit entrants and help shape the Trashion/Fashion rules of engagement
Collaborate with the Trashion-Fashion committee on the basics of show
Help select pre-event music and MC
Direct set up and clean up
Maintain a fun collaborative working environment while pulling wildly successful events.
