Earthquake Preparedness Resources

Practice your Stop, Drop, and Cover (or decide whether exiting the building is the better strategy), establish your tsunami evacuation route, prepare or update your Go Bag and emergency supplies kit, and establish or update your Neighbors Helping Neighbors plan.

There are so many great resources, but here are a few:

1. From Carolyn McGown, an app the may give you advance earthquake warning.
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/myshake/id1467058529

2. The San Juan County emergency alert page: https://sanjuanco.com/AlertCenter.aspx

3. From O.J. Loughleed, links shared at the recent amateur radio operators meeting, with more information about what we can expect:

- What If The Big Earthquake Hits The Pacific Northwest Tomorrow?

- Here's EXACTLY What to Do When the Next Megaquake Hits: Cascadia Subduction

- Tsunami wave simulation for the San Juan Islands, Wash.

- Toast, tsunamis and the really big one | Chris Goldfinger | TEDxMtHood

(The links didn't translate, but they're all YouTube videos so go to YouTube and enter the titles and they'll pop right up)

And don't forget, you can email Bob Burtch or Shari Lane for helpful guides to creating your own emergency supplies and setting up a neighborhood plan: shari4504@gmail.com; bobncarolyn91@gmail.com.
