This Week: For Memorial Day weekend (in a show repeated on Sunday) we will play excerpts of two Requiems by two composers born in May - Johannes Brahms and Gabriel Faure - to honor the friends and neighbors we’ve known and loved on Lopez whom we lost in the last year. First, we conclude our monthly tribute to Brahms with excerpts from his German Requiem, and then close with portions of Gabriel Faure’s Requiem. Both compositions are appropriately gentle consolations, avoiding any “day of judgement” inherent in the previous religious-based requiems.
