Lifesaving skills in a bleeding emergency situation

Lopez EMS is organizing public Stop The Bleed classes!
Stop the Bleed is a national awareness campaign and call-to-action. Stop the Bleed is intended to cultivate grassroots efforts that encourage bystanders to become trained, equipped, and empowered to help in a bleeding emergency before emergency help arrives. A person who is bleeding can die from blood loss within five minutes, so quickly stopping the bleeding is critical. Those nearest to someone with life threatening injuries are best positioned to provide immediate care if they are equipped with the appropriate training and resources.
You are invited to attend a 1.5 hour class to learn simple skills that could make a life-or-death difference. On Lopez, we have taught bystander CPR/First Aid skills to 107 people this year alone. It is our goal to equip many island citizens with this additional skill set to increase our community strength and resilience in the event of a disaster.
The EMS Association obtained a grant through the Lopez Thrift Shop and generous support from the 4th of July Beer Garden. Those funds have purchased equipment to support this campaign on Lopez. We thank the community for making it possible!
The next class is offered Saturday January 18th from 10-1130 am. There is no cost. To sign up, or be placed on the wait list for future classes, please call the fire station at 360 468 2991
Teens are welcome with parent permission.
