Catherine Washburn Medical Association Annual MeetingHappy Spring! The annual meeting of the Catherine Washburn Medical Association will take place at the Grace Church Hall on Saturday, May 18th at 12PM. The meeting will be held in Hoyt Hall and will be open to the public. We encourage you to attend and see what’s happening with CWMA and the healthcare community on Lopez Island! We will have tasty Isabel's coffee and Barn Owl treats to share. CWMA has continued its work to help keep our clinic and physical therapy facilities open, safe, and available to the Lopez community. Our biggest project of 2023 was creating and editing our new Health Resources Directory, now available to the community for free. We continue to subsidize rent for both PT and the Clinic and ensure funds are raised so that all Lopez residents have the financial support they need to access equitable medical services here. In early 2024, we added a concrete path to the current Clinic helipad, to ease transport for patients and the EMS crew. We successfully negotiated a new lease with UW Primary Care and upgraded + replaced necessary equipment + supplies for both PT and the clinic. We have three new candidates seeking to join the board . Bob Bucholz, Candace Downey and Randall Dickson are eager Lopez community members ready to help steward the work of CWMA throughout the island and bring their extensive collective experience to help facilitate our crucial healthcare work. Anne Hall has recently joined the board as our new Secretary, beginning in May! I am also running for re-election. We’re grateful to outgoing board members Diana Hancock, Sarah Munson, Ann Palmer, and Barb Nepom who have steadily provided leadership and support over the past many years to the CWMA board. They will absolutely be missed! We are so appreciative of the many members and donors who continue to support this critical work!
