Sheriff's Office Message: When & How to Contact Us
Nov 24, 2025
By San Juan County
What merits a call to the Sheriff's Office/Dispatch? Here's some info for those who may be confused about what constitutes a call to dispatch.
Recently the SJCSO was contacted by Council person Jane Fuller regarding the picnic table being returned to the Weeks Point Way road end / PW property. She also expressed that some Lopez community members may not know what merits a call to the Sheriff's Office/Dispatch, so I am sharing some info for those who may fall into this group.

1. If you observe, hear, or believe there is an emergency occurring, then please call 9-1-1.
2. If you observed, heard of, or believe there may be a non-emergency occurring or has already occurred, then please call the dispatch non-emergency number 360-378-4151. If you're still unsure, you can still call the non-emergency number.

As for as the complaints of alleged violations or suspicious activity occurring at the picnic table area at Weeks Point Way Road end / PW property, the same info above applies.

Deputies will respond and the response will be determined by the order of priority of the calls holding at any given time. As always, deputies will try to obtain what's being reported vs what's actually observed and will decide if there is law enforcement action that needs to occur based on the totality of the circumstances reported/observed. If no Law enforcement actions is taken, the deputies should explain why no law enforcement action is able to be taken.
