Bridie Spreine Candidate for Commissioner #4, Lopez Rec
Oct 10, 2025
By Bridie Spreine
My name is Bridie and I am running for Commissioner #4.
I have worked with the Lopez Rec formation committee “Rally for the Rec” since its inception. I have served on the baseball board, the 3V’s board and my church board. I have worked hard as a volunteer and community member. I have owned Lopez Coffee Shop, Crossfit Lopez Island, Lopez Strength & Conditioning and worked for Northsound Electric and Hobi Plumbing as office manager. I raised all 3 of my children here. One is currently attending Central Washington University for Mechanical Engineering and my other two are 16 and 14 and currently in soccer. My kids have participated in every sport and have also volunteered their time to benefit the island. Everything from Senior Care to music festivals. I have coached baseball, taught Taekwondo since I was in middle school and taught self-defense in the school here. I mentor and lead classes for youth. I have participated fully in living on Lopez. I believe from experience and research that a Parks and Rec on Lopez Island will benefit everyone. I believe that it will strengthen our community, our current organizations and will support our school. I believe this work is the best thing I can do for my community.

If elected I plan to listen and act. I plan to represent my fellow islanders and to stand for a community that needs to be supported. I know from talking to many organizations and people here that our volunteers are lessening, that the majority of donors are working families that are donating in the $25-$100 range. I know that organizations are starting to fold due to lack of support. I believe that a taxing district that has interest only on Lopez and is accountable to Lopez is the way forward. That it will shore up the school in its time of need. That it will partner with LIFRC so they can keep doing the job they do so well and that once we’ve done that then it will just be the beginning. I believe in Parks and Recreation on Lopez. Orcas and SJI have parks and recs. I grew up with a great one and I envision one here as a hub for the community.

I look forward to being connected to you and your projects and your questions and concerns. Email me at [email protected] or go to my website.
