Aquarius New Moon - Year of the Snake
Jan 29, 2025
By Peter Cloud Panjoyah
Gung Hoy Fat Choy! Happy Chinese New Year as we find ourselves entering the year of the Snake in Chinese astrology.
Every year the New Moon in Aquarius, which came exact this morning at 4:32am, coincides with the beginning of the Chinese astrological year.

In western or tropical astrology, Snake is associated with the sign of Scorpio. In a chart cast for the New Moon, planet Pluto, ruler or guide of Scorpio, is widely conjunct or blended with the Moon and Sun in the sign of Aquarius, where we want greater freedom, including the freedom to be as weird and off the beaten track as we are.

Pluto's involvement with this New Moon means for the next two weeks in particular (and certainly until Aquarius New Moon 2026 in the Chinese zodiac)the energy of Snake is most potent in our lives and the outer world. What has been hidden that is being revealed? What revealed information, feelings, memories might be or feel sudden, unexpected or shocking, other hallmarks of Aquarius?

Everything can seem overly intense. Letting any even as-yet-understood feelings up and out is important at this time, even or especially when they suddenly burst out of you (hopefully in safe space).

The New Moon is a time of beginnings and intentions for the particular signature of a given Moon.

Aquarian intentions for how to feel more free/get more freedom into your life are apropos, particularly with regards to friendship, siblings and thought process. Let your words be unexpurgated, yet be careful of blame. Unexpected alliances are probable. Feelings may be confusing, and there may be a tendency to rise above and think or talk about them rather than actually feeling them. The real work is in this feeling realm and we'll have energy for it, even if at first we might not want to go there. Community and connections within community are crucial over the next couple weeks - use it or lose it!

In each moment, thinking outside the box will be important. Let yourself be surprised yet accepting and owning of what you think and say.
