Lopez Voter Forum October 17 at 5:30 PM at the Community Center
The League of Women Voters of the San Juans, a non-partisan, non-profit organization, is
sponsoring voter forums on San Juan, Orcas, and Lopez Islands for county residents to get to know the County Council candidates on the ballot for the November election. All San Juan County registered voters may vote for both the District 1 and the District 2 County Council candidates. The District 1 candidates are Kari McVeigh and Stephanie O’Day, and the District 2 candidates are Rick Hughes and Justin Paulsen. The general election is November 5, and the San Juan County Elections Office will be mailing the voter information booklet out the week of October 7th. Ballots will be mailed to registered voters on October 16.

The schedule for the forums is as follows, all at 5:30 PM:
•San Juan Island: Thursday, October 10, at the Grange
•Orcas Island: Wednesday, October 16, at the Senior Center
•Lopez Island: Thursday, October 17, at the Community Center

The voter forums are moderated events during which candidates will present introductory statements and respond to questions, within time limits. All four County Council candidates have confirmed that they will attend. The League of Women Voters requires civil discourse in forums, and all questions to candidates must meet that requirement.

The meeting will also be livestreamed by CNL2 (SanJuan.Today) at https://cnl2.com/. Community members who wish to ask questions of candidates but cannot attend in person may email their questions in advance of the forums to the League at [email protected]. Please keep questions as succinct as possible. Also note that questions may be combined or edited.

We hope to see you there and remind you that your vote counts!
