Stewardship Coordinator, The Madrona Institute & Stewardship Network of the San Juans

Terms: Part-time position (20 hrs/month)

Salary Range: $26-$30 per hour, depending on experience

Closing Date: 12/15/24

Location: Hybrid: virtual and in-person on San Juan Island

Summary:

The Madrona Institute is seeking a part-time Stewardship Coordinator. This position will provide coordination and administrative support and conduct outreach for the Madrona Institute and the Stewardship Network.

About Us:

The Madrona Institute is a 501(c)3 located on San Juan Island. Our mission is to engage current and future generations in the conservation and stewardship of our local ecosystem, and to encourage community dialogue and leadership on climate-related issues. This mission is accomplished through youth conservation & stewardship corps in the San Juan Islands, and through initiatives on climate change.

The Madrona Institute serve as the fiscal agent for the Stewardship Network of the San Juans. The Stewardship Network is a coalition of public and private organizations who envision a healthy, thriving ecosystem in the San Juan archipelago from land to sea.

Duties:

Support administrative, coordination, and outreach activities for the Madrona Institute.

Coordinate website management, social media engagement, and donor management.

Provide grant writing and grant administration support.

Plan and implement events and community engagement initiatives.

Provide coordination for the Stewardship Network

Stay informed on emerging environmental issues in the San Juan Islands.

Assist with facilitating monthly Teams meetings, including working with the Stewardship Network Chair and Vice Chair on agenda creation, recording and distributing meeting notes.

Maintain and update membership and email lists.

Communicate between meetings with member organizations, sharing relevant information via email.

Support and assist in collaborations among Network organizations.

Coordinate annual membership renewals and fees.

Assist in the planning and promotion of events, such as the Good Steward Awards & Great Islands Cleanup After Party (April) and the San Juan County Green Village & Speaker Series (August).

Share member events and news through the website, Facebook page, and email listserv.

Maintain website

Qualifications:

Experience with environmental organizations, either professionally or as a volunteer.

Skilled facilitator and communicator, comfortable in collaborative environments that involve task delegation.

Strong written and oral communication skills.

Proficiency in managing Squarespace website updates, Facebook, Microsoft Teams, and Google Drive.

Canva graphic design experience is preferred but not required.

Interest or experience in fundraising and grant writing is preferred but not required.

Familiarity with San Juan County is preferred but not required.

Must live in San Juan County, with preference for San Juan Island.
