An outbreak of RHDV2 killed many of the rabbits (which are non-native European rabbits). There are no native rabbits in the islands, but not all of the rabbits die during an outbreak, so it is likely that numbers will increase again. I was waiting for someone for someone more expert than myself to answer your inquiry. But this is what I've been told. The huge increase in those rascally rabbits we go though every few years are not native, but pet ones that escaped or irresponsibly let go by their owners.
