This week: In our annual tribute to Beethoven in the weekend nearest his birthday (December 16, 1770), instead of sampling snippets from his nine symphonies, we will play one of his earliest chamber music pieces from the early 1790s and then a few longer segments from his late string quartets, which represent perhaps his deepest and greatest - and certainly his final - contributions to his timeless canon of great music written nearly 200 years ago (in 1825 and 1826).
