This Week: We wrap up our second of two Bela Bartok hours with his Violin Concerto No. 2 (1937-38) in a live BBC Proms performance from 1982 by Yehudi Menuhin on violin with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, then Bartok’s final masterpiece, the Concerto for Orchestra (1943), played by the World Orchestra for Peace, conducted by Sir Georg Solti from a live recording in the Victoria Hall, Geneva, Switzerland, July 1995. Both Bartok and Solti were born in Hungary.
