An Evening with Kalos

Thursday April 25 at 7pm
Lopez Center Church
Admission by donation (suggested $20 - $30)

Ryan McKasson (fiddle, viola, background vocals), Eric McDonald (guitar, mandolin, lead vocals) and Jeremiah McLane (accordion, piano, background vocals), are masters of traditional music, which informs and inspires their driving, rhythmic original compositions. Their individual artistry is enhanced when playing together, creating a greater whole and an alluring complexity, full of spontaneous musicality.
Devon Leger of Hearth Music says, “This trio really shows how masterful musicians listen and play off each other." Kalos’ live performance is the band’s heart and forte. Their partnership stretches beyond the music, born of fast friendships formed at the band’s origin and exhibited in their playfulness on stage, with organic banter and good humor to go along with the music.

Lopez audiences will recall Eric McDonald’s stellar guitar playing and lead vocals when he performed as a member of Scottish supergroup Cantrip, who gave a great concert at Center Church this past January, while in the midst of a huge snow storm and bitter freeze, gripping the Northwest then.

“Ryan, Eric and Jeremiah create music together that is at once energetic, sublime, pensive, thought provoking and jubilant.” Steve Behrens, 67 music

“The narrative power of McDonald’s vocals joins the darker riffs of McKasson’s fiddle and McLane’s soulful accordion for an album with pluck, depth, and good reels aplenty.” Rachel Lynne Wilkerson, folkradio.co.uk
