The Lopez Cooperative Preschool and San Juan County ECEAP are searching for a Family Support Specialist (FSS) to work directly with the families of children enrolled in the Lopez Cooperative Preschool through ECEAP (Early Childhood Education Assistance Program).

The role of the Family Support Specialist includes:
•Advocating for families.
•Connecting families with community resources.
•Coaching parents with goal setting.
•Tracking and assisting families with health & dental screenings.
•Maintaining program database.

This is an opportunity to support the families of some of our youngest island children and make a positive difference in their lives. Expected hours are an average of 3 - 4 hours per week, more hours are required at the beginning and end of the school year, with flexibility needed to work around family’s schedules. Employment will begin in September 2020 and be for the school year until June 2021.

Pay $22 -$25 per hour DOE

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: (one of the following)
•An associate or higher degree with the equivalent of 30 college quarter credits of adult education, human development, human services, family support, social work, early childhood education, child development, psychology, or another field directly related to their job responsibilities. These 30 credits may be included in the degree or in addition to the degree;
•A DCYF -approved credential from a comprehensive and competency-based Family/Social Service training program that increases knowledge and skills in providing direct services to families.
•Home Visitor Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential from the Council of Professional Recognition.
•A Washington State ECE Home Visitor Certificate
•If an applicant is otherwise qualified, but does not have one of the above qualifications it may be possible to write a Professional Development Plan to fully meet the qualifications within five years.

This position will require a Department of Children, Youth and Families background check, a TB test and ongoing trainings.

Preference will be given to applicants with Spanish language skills.
