Betty's place. We know where this house was on Lopez and just curious if anyone has a story to share about it.

We went to Betty's Place for dinner over the years and it was always a treat! Smitty was a wonderful cook and Betty was the server. Together they ran Betty's Place until Smitty died. Paul & Milo Welchans bought it then, kept the name and ran it.... Read all

My Dad, Don Fagerholm,(now 94)remembers playing in the yard with Charlie Cochran in the 1930’s. He still has 3 scars to prove it.

It was torn down 2 or 3 years ago. Yes, at the meeting of Ferry/Center/Fisherman Bay Roads. When it was a "restaurant" everyone was served the same meal...no menu.

Jeff said he ate there once after making a reservation and choice of food a week ahead. He remembers the food was good! It was in Cochran's old house.

Old locals will still call that location Betty's Place. No bed and breakfast as I remember, just family style food for locals. There are people who remember more than I so keep asking.

Thanks Dan. Interesting that they served food to locals. I assumed it was a bed and breakfast type operation. This house BTW was located where Center and Fisherman Bay Roads meet. It was torn down years ago and there is a yurt and a new agricultural.... Read all

I can not remember much, my Dad took us there to eat. As I remember it was an old junky house at the time, and we sat at an old table and chairs. Not sure but seems I remember the guy that cooked was overweight and smiled. Can not remember what we ate.... Read all
