Stop the Bleed is a national awareness campaign and call-to-action.
Lopez EMS is organizing public Stop The Bleed classes.
Stop the Bleed is a national awareness campaign and call-to-action. Stop the Bleed is intended to cultivate grassroots efforts that encourage bystanders to become trained, equipped, and empowered to help in a bleeding emergency before emergency help arrives. A person who is bleeding can die from blood loss within five minutes, so quickly stopping the bleeding is critical. Those nearest to someone with life threatening injuries are best positioned to provide immediate care if they are equipped with the appropriate training and resources.
You are invited to attend a 2.5 hour class with RJ Meyers to learn simple skills that could make a life-or-death difference. On Lopez, we have taught bystander CPR/First Aid skills to 107 people this year alone. It is our goal to equip many island citizens with this additional skill set to increase our community strength and resilience in the event of a disaster.
This summer we obtained a grant through the Lopez Thrift Store and fundraised at the 4th of July Beer Garden. Those funds have purchased equipment to support this campaign on Lopez. We thank you for your contributions.
