Hanna Somatic Education (HSE) teaches individuals how to recognize, release and reverse habituated postures and movement patterns that can cause stiffness &/or pain that are often considered the hallmarks of aging. Throughout our lives, our bodies become increasingly constricted due to stress, injury and repetitive strain and create habituated postures. Stiffness and pain do not equate with age! Our brain controls our movements. Over time it merely “forgets” how to relax chronically contracted muscles " known as Sensory Motor Amnesia (SMA). HSE reeducates the brain to restore sensory awareness and voluntary control over involuntarily contracted muscles. Using slow, gentle movements appropriate for all age groups, you can learn somatic movements to release habituated patterns and continue to improve the level of freedom, comfort, and grace in your body.

Hanna Somatic Education (HSE) is a system of neuromuscular education (mind-body training) that enables you to enjoy comfortable movement and increased flexibility that can create freedom from chronic pain throughout your life.
