HSE teaches individuals how to recognize, release and reverse habituated postures and movement patterns that can cause stiffness &/or pain. Many aches and pains that are often considered the hallmarks of aging are actually the result of Sensory Motor Amnesia (SMA). SMA occurs when you hold yourself tightly in reaction to repetitive strain, pain, injury, or emotional stress causing your brain to “forget” how to sense and relax tight muscles. Chronically contracted muscles can become sore, painful and weak from constant use and even cause general fatigue. Slow, gentle and pain-free somatic movements can reverse the effects of SMA, override your reflexive patterns of posture and movement and restore flexibility and comfort.
