Hey everyone! Thanks for all of your efforts, your attendance at meetings, your multitude of comments!

Thanks for helping us get the San Juan Islands National Monument's Proposed Resource Management Plan/Environmental Impact Statement to where it is today!

YOU HAVE UNTIL 12/22 TO PROTEST.

It is now posted for your review on the BLM ePlanning website: https://go.usa.gov/xRphc

Also on that page and attached here is a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) section that might answer the majority of your questions. Follow the checklist for applying carefully and make sure your comments are substantive (with science based cause), not purely personal preference.

This is your chance to review and protest, if you find the need. The criteria for that action and specific directions to follow are all found on that site.

Hard copies of the document are at our office and the library.

- Protests can only be submitted by Dec 22 through the eplanning site or in hard copies mailed to the Department (post dated by 12/22):
Director (210)
Attention: Protest Coordinator, WO-210
20 M St SE, Room 2134LM
Washington, DC 20003

The 60-day comment period to the closure of shooting on the monument except during hunting season is underway for another month.

DURING HUNTING SEASON RECREATIONAL SHOOTING CAN OCCUR ANYWHERE ON THE MONUMENT BUT 10 SMALL ISLANDS.ANY KIND OF FIREARMS.

This specific opportunity to comment meets a requirement of the Dingell Act.

- Comments on the shooting closure should be submitted by Jan 22 to the Monument office email or hard copy, or to blm_or_sanjuanislandsnm@blm.gov
COMMENTS TO THE SHOOTING CLOSURE ARE ACCEPTED NOV 22 - JAN 21

You are always welcome to drop by the office in the village on Lopez or give us a call if you need clarification.
This has been a loooong process, but your engagement and your stewardship is invaluable. Sally Reeve, sanjuanislandsnm.org and Madrona Murphy of Kwiaht have posted a great deal of useful information about this, as well.

Sincerely
Happy Holidays
All of us at the Monument Office
