Orcas Island Chamber Music Festival - The Lopez ConcertThe Orcas Island Chamber Music Festival (OICMF) presents an annual Chamber Music Festival dedicated to the highest standards of musical excellence, brought to life through visionary, creative, inclusive, and innovative programming, and Festival-related events during the year. The Festival was established in 1998 by Artistic Director Aloysia Friedmann. It is dedicated to long-term sustainability and its strong tradition of volunteer participation and community support, to the preservation of exceptional examples of chamber music performance, and to sharing stimulating musical insights and experiences with all amidst the natural beauty of Orcas Island, creating "Classical Music with a View." Each August during the two-week Festival a concert is brought to Lopez Island with the same exceptional musicians and programming who also appear on Orcas Island. Since 2012, Lopez has welcomed OICMF musicians from throughout the world to our quiet island for a Festival concert to remember, frequently featuring World Premiere performances by noted contemporary composers. The Lopez Concert is supported by a corps of up to 29 island volunteers and the generous sponsorship of Lopez music lovers and businesses. The Festival contracts with Lopez businesses to provide venues, food, lunches, dinners, and services for each concert. Occasional fundraising Salon Concerts in private homes are offered as well.
